Bernetta was a very active member of the ILGWU and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than twenty-five years.
In her later years, when Bernetta and Margaret shared a home together, Carol Saline and Sharon J. Wohlmuth featured them in the Philadelphia Inquirer Magazine and in May 1995 in Sisters, a book. Bernetta and Margaret: The Crommarty Sisters. This was a dedication to both Bernetta and Margaret – their spirits will continue to live on in the pages of Sisters.
